Job Summary:

The Director has responsibility for developing a comprehensive Cardiac Service Line model through collaboration and integration with the Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health system, aligning cardiac clinical staff and programs with strategic goals. Participates in the process of developing business plans for the Cardiac Service Line and implementing business strategies with metrics and measurable outcomes. Leads a marketing campaign and a community outreach program in order to promote and build volume in our primary and secondary market area. Facilitate an atmosphere of interactive management and the development of relationships with the medical staff, system colleagues and with the healthcare community. Responsible for the implementation of the mission, vision, philosophy, core values and standards of practice for all staff on the Cardiac Service Line. Serve as a catalyst and role model and provides administrative leadership and direction. Responsible for the allocation of available resources to promote autonomous, effective, safe, cost-efficient, and compassionate quality care.

Education/Training/Certification/Licensure:

  • Active NJ Registered Nurse (RN) License or Multistate RN License with NJ Endorsement
  • BSN required, Masters in Nursing, Health Care or Business Administration preferred
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • 7–10 years of direct experience in cardiovascular services required.
  • Management experience in an acute setting is strongly preferred.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred.
  • Experienced in market development strategies with the Cardiac Service Line
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Essential Functions:

  • In conjunction with the clinical and senior leadership, it sets the strategic vision of the service line and executes that mission.
  • Develops relationships and leads team building with physician leadership, and other colleagues to achieve defined service-line and organizational strategic goals.
  • Oversees all new multidisciplinary program development across the service line leads to the strategic development and deployment of the service line. 
  • Directs the daily operations by translating business vision and strategy into operational goals, objectives, workflows and implementation plans.
  • Participates in marketing and promotional initiatives within the service-line, developing marketing campaigns, implementing programs and reporting on measured results.
  • In coordination with the service line staff prepares departmental operational and capital budgets in order to develop a financial reporting structure to appropriately monitor strategic goals.
  • In conjunction with the Department, staff provides direction and guidance for all aspects of daily administration and management of departments within the service line: cardiac catheter lab, stress testing, outpatient cardiac rehab, TEE, interventional radiology nursing.
  • Develop relationships in the RWJBH system to promote growth and expansion of the service line.
  • Build volume measured by metrics consistent with the strategic vision.
  • Ensure that clinical care provided is appropriate, evaluated as needed, and incorporate the most current evidence-based practices.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives, utilize the Verge reporting system and PeopleSoft program as appropriate.
  • Participate in root cause analysis investigations in relation to an identified miss/sentential event as required.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, orienting, competencies, performance evaluations, and disciplinary process leading up to and including termination.
  • Maintain a physical presence in the department to manage work processes, patient flow, environmental issues and crisis intervention.
  • Responsible for scheduling staff according to pre-defined productivity standards and budgetary requirements.
