The licensed Athletic Trainer assists in executing established program policies and procedures and assumes responsibility for maintaining program standards. The ATC will work in concert with the physical therapists in the maintenance and operations of the physical therapy department and work with the return to play population of patients as instructed by the PT supervisor. This role is a combination of assisting at times as an aide in the PT space and working with the patient as instructed by the PT. Also, when allocated to the school setting the ATC is an extension of the supervising physician and is to be compliant with the supervising physician s standing orders implementing medical and risk management of all persons covered within these orders. In the school setting, the ATC should regularly consult and communicate with the supervising physical therapist or physician on the medical management of each athlete as needed. As determined by the supervising physical therapist, the ATC is available to assist in coverage for offsite games and/or practices with contracted schools and organizations and offers flexibility to cover varying shifts including nights, weekends, coverage of special events, and tournament coverage. The ATC is responsible for following established plans of care with contracted schools and affiliations at all times. The ATC will assist in evaluation and education and in organizing and providing community programs on or offsite while establishing and/or maintaining communication with physical therapist, physician practices, schools and various institutions. The ATC Provides coverage of the sports injury clinic (when needed) under the guidance of physician supervision and has the ability to help cover Morahan Screening programs where needed. ATC will also assist with the promotion and execution of tactics of enhancing referrals to the Physical Therapy department, Sports Medicine Institute, the Morahan Center, and all Physical therapy and Barnabas Health Ancillary Services as it relates to athletic injury.


  • BS in the field of Athletic Training


  • Current athletic training licensure in the state of New Jersey through the NJ Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Current and upheld NATA BOC certification fulfilling annual continuing education requirements within the state of New Jersey.
  • BLS Certification Required. (American Heart Association)
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Computer skills, familiarity with Excel, Word, Power Point.
