Job Overview:

The PSG Technologist works under the direction of the Medical Director. Responsible for obtaining standard and complex recording as well as special procedure polysomnographic recording and for monitoring additional physiological phenomena by means of appropriate techniques. Will be required to proctor and teach trainees and technicians in all aspects of the skills required to progress their skills to the level of the technologist.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School diploma or equiv.
  • NJ licensure
  • BRPT or ABSM Certification
  • BLS through American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Night Shift
  • Per Diem
  • 7:00pm-7:30am
  • Schedule varies based on the needs of the department

Essential Functions:

  • Performs standard and complex polysomnographic and related studies
  • Prepares the laboratory and equipment, making the necessary adjustments and calibrations
  • The technologist is to write a descriptive technical report on each study to aid the physicians in their interpretation of the recording
  • Use of titration equipment. CPAP,BI-Level and ASV
  • Able to determine when to start PAP Titration according to department policy and procedure and/or physician prescription.
  • Mask fittings
  • Scores polysomnograms which agree within 80% of the sleep medicine specialist s scoring
  • Performs MSLT/MWT and PAP Nap testing
  • Performs other related duties as required by the department supervisor
