Assistant Vice President, Pediatric Services-Newark Beth Israel Medical Center/Children’s Hospital of New Jersey
Job Overview:
The Assistant Vice President, Pediatric Services serves as a strategic, operational, and programmatic leader working in collaboration with the Chair and medical directors of the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey. This role functions as a strategic and operational partner between and among clinical leadership, hospital administration, corporate departments, the Medical Group and the Children’s Hospital of NJ Service Line. The Assistant Vice President drives faculty development, program growth, operational performance, and the regional pediatric strategy, ensuring alignment with RWJBarnabas Health system priorities. The Assistant Vice President is a key member of the Children's Hospital of NJ administration, partnering to advance quality, safety, accreditation readiness, and patient experience across inpatient, ambulatory, and regional sites.

- The Assistant Vice President, Pediatric Services, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, NBI
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree required
- 3 years of leadership experience in healthcare administration, preferably in academic or pediatric settings
Essential Functions:
Faculty & Program Development
- Provide faculty development and management support to chair and division leaders.
- Lead administrative components of program development, including business plan creation, financial modeling, and implementation oversight.
- Serve as the administrative interface to hospital, corporate, and service line partners, ensuring coordinated communication and alignment.
Hospital Administration & Operational Leadership
- In collaboration with site and system quality partners, lead quality and safety program development, including accreditation and regulatory preparedness.
- Drive operational performance initiatives related to Newark Beth Israel goals including patient satisfaction, employee engagement, throughput, workforce, and capital planning.
- Support budget development, variance analysis, and financial management across pediatric programs.
- Identify immediate and long-term physician staffing needs, working in collaboration with BHMG and service line leadership to develop a recruitment plan.
Newark-Based Clinical Program Development
- Provide administrative leadership and partnership for key CHONJ/NBIMC programs and services, including, but not limited, to:
- Valerie Fund: Collaborate with Children's Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) and Valerie Fund Medical Director on program enhancement and operational support.
- Cardiac Services: Partner with Medical Director, Pediatric Cardiology to oversee operations and program growth.
- Asthma Program: Work with Medical Director, Our Healthy Newark Asthma Program to oversee program operations and expand partnerships with community organizations.
- Weight Management: Collaborate with key leaders to strengthen program operations and extend services to community partners.
- Regional Diagnostic Treatment Center: Provide operational leadership through collaboration with physician and administrative leaders to ensure key performance indicators are met.
Regional Pediatric Development
- Support and advance pediatric strategy across the region:
- Partner with CINJ and BHMG to lead expansion of Valerie Fund services to additional sites.
- Support development and expansion of new and existing pediatric programs.
- Coordinate expansion of pediatric physician services to new ambulatory locations including, but not limited to, Hoboken, Morristown, and Bergen County.
- Collaborate with service line partners for outreach opportunities to development and strengthen referral pathways.
- Partner with marketing/communications to build program visibility and brand recognition across the region.
Medical Group Integration
- Serve as the administrative partner with Medical Group leadership and pediatric physicians, ensuring alignment on operations, staffing, and strategic priorities.
- Facilitate communication and coordination between Medical Group leadership and hospital administration, with a focus on CHONJ operations, including patient, employee and physician engagement.
