Operating with a high level of independence within their scope, they ensure that medical treatments, clinical testing, and diagnostic procedures are provided in a safe and rational manner according to legal and professional standards. They are responsible for assuring an orderly flow of patients, assisting healthcare providers, maintaining examination rooms, and providing high-quality nursing care to support our team.

A typical day for an LPN may include:

  • Assures an orderly flow of patients by greeting them warmly, escorting them from reception, and preparing them thoroughly for clinical examinations.
  • Administers immunizations and clinical injections safely and precisely as directed by the physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant.
  • Performs diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures including venipunctures, urinalysis, glucose and hemoglobin assessments, peak flows, and ECGs.
  • Prepares and processes laboratory specimens accurately before forwarding them to the appropriate lab for official processing.
  • Takes vital signs, documents initial medical history in patient charts, and schedules necessary follow-up laboratory and X-ray appointments.
  • Maintains examination rooms and treatment areas by ensuring they are clean, fully stocked with medical supplies, and utilizing proper instrument sterilization.
  • Observes and records patient conditions, documenting reactions to drugs or treatments, and immediately reporting changes to providers.
  • Manages medical records and patient charts by updating test results, pulling printer reports, and attaching them for timely physician review.
  • Delivers instructions to patients regarding medication management and treatment plans as specifically directed by the provider team.
  • Periodically checks expiration dates on all in-house medications, immunizations, and clinical supplies to guarantee patient safety.
  • Reports safety issues, equipment failures, patient complaints, or billing concerns immediately to the Practice Manager to maintain workplace integrity.
