Physical Therapist – Monmouth Medical Center, RWJBarnabas Health

At Monmouth Medical Center, part of RWJBarnabas Health, the Physical Therapist plays an essential role in helping patients regain mobility, function, and independence throughout their hospital stay. Working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, the Physical Therapist evaluates patients, develops individualized plans of care, and provides skilled therapy interventions for patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiovascular conditions. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient recovery while supporting safe, efficient hospital throughput and comprehensive patient-centered care.

A typical day for a Physical Therapist may include:

  • Completing comprehensive physical therapy evaluations of assigned patients to identify functional limitations, clinical needs, and appropriate treatment priorities
  • Utilizing clinical reasoning to establish individualized plans of care and functional goals that support patient recovery and facilitate safe hospital throughput
  • Evaluating and treating patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiovascular deficits based on individual clinical presentation and needs
  • Planning and implementing skilled physical therapy treatments in coordination with the multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Collaborating with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive services that address each patient's individual needs
  • Working directly with referring physicians to communicate patient status, treatment recommendations, and ongoing physical therapy needs
  • Making appropriate recommendations and referrals for additional patient care services based on evaluation findings and individual patient needs
  • Completing medical record documentation and billing practices that accurately support the medical necessity and skilled need for physical therapy services in the acute hospital setting
  • Participating in the student Physical Therapist program as assigned and supporting the development of future physical therapy professionals
  • Practicing appropriate infection prevention and control measures, including adherence to Universal Precautions
  • Performing other duties as assigned while maintaining a commitment to safe, effective, and patient-centered care

To be considered for this Physical Therapist opportunity:

  • Current New Jersey State license as a Physical Therapist required
  • One year of acute care or hospital-based physical therapy experience preferred
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Knowledge and demonstrated practice of Universal Precautions
  • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members
