Medical Assistant (MA) – RWJBarnabas Health

A typical day for a Medical Assistant may include:
- Stocks patient exam rooms
- Monitor schedule for potential issues
- Answers the telephone in a professional manner
- Inputs data as needed or directed and accurately
- Assist the staff with addressing patient phone calls
- Monitors supply room for adequate levels of supplies
- Duplicates medical records as requested or as needed
- Takes the patient's vital signs and documents in patient record
- Contact referring physicians for additional information as needed
- Interacts with patients and handles patient inquiries in a professional manner
- Responds to inquiry or passes to the appropriate staff member for follow up
- Complete authorizations and referrals for services, including appointments and procedures
- Demonstrates the ability to problem-solve and find resolution to an issue or appropriately seeks assistance
- Prepares and maintains patient medical records in a neat and orderly manner according to department protocol
- Responds to requests from referring MDs in a timely and professional manner and ensures that following has occurred
- Travels to other sites as required
- All other duties as assigned

- This position offers a consistent Monday through Friday day shift schedule, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining a work-life balance.
- You have a high school diploma/GED, a current American Heart Association BLS certification, and successful completion of all Orientation Program is required.
- Medical Assistant Certification is preferred
- Medical Assistant or Patient Care Tech training with knowledge of medical terminology, registration, coding, experience with customer service and medical office responsibilities is required
