Physicist - RWJBarnabas Health
As a Physicist at RWJBarnabas Health, you will play a vital role in supporting the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy treatments. Working closely with physicians, dosimetrists, therapists, and clinical staff, you will help ensure treatment accuracy, maintain quality assurance standards, oversee dosimetric calculations, and support advanced radiation oncology technologies to provide exceptional patient care.
A Typical Day for a Physicist May Include:
Assisting with the development and implementation of the Radiation Oncology Quality Assurance Program.
Performing treatment planning, dose calculations, and brachytherapy source management.
Conducting calibration, testing, and quality assurance checks on linear accelerators, simulators, and other radiation therapy equipment.
Reviewing and verifying treatment plans and patient treatment records for accuracy and compliance.
Collaborating with physicians and dosimetrists to solve complex treatment planning and technical challenges.
Measuring and evaluating dosimetric characteristics of treatment units.
Troubleshooting equipment issues and coordinating repairs when needed.
Designing and evaluating specialized treatment devices and shielding requirements.
Providing education and training to staff and patients regarding radiation oncology procedures.
Assisting with the evaluation and implementation of new equipment and treatment techniques.
Ensuring compliance with all regulatory, safety, and accreditation requirements.

To Be Considered:
Master's Degree in Medical Physics from an accredited program required.
Strong computer literacy and programming skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care.
Successful completion of all required orientation and onboarding programs.
Experience in radiation therapy treatment planning, dosimetry, quality assurance, and radiation safety preferred.
Ability to work in an environment with exposure to radiation oncology equipment and related clinical hazards while following all safety protocols.
