Infection Preventionist (IP) – RWJBarnabas Health

As an Infection Preventionist (IP), a typical day may include:

• Program Support: Supporting the efficient function and daily operations of the Infection Prevention and Control Program while aligning with the philosophy, mission, and vision of RWJBH
• Regulatory Compliance: Practicing in strict accordance with the Department of Health regulations, The Joint Commission, CDC/NHSN, and other regulatory bodies.
• Data & Surveillance: Collecting, analyzing, and presenting relevant data to identify trends in infection control and infectious diseases.
• Staff Education: Educate healthcare workers on Infection Prevention practices.
• Policy Development: Developing, reviewing, and refining clinical policies and procedures regarding infection control and prevention.
• Committee Collaboration: Participating actively in the Infection Prevention and Control Committee, alongside other assigned interdisciplinary committees.
• Outbreak Investigation: Investigating clusters and outbreaks immediately to implement corrective actions and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Performance Improvement: Participating directly in quality and performance improvement evaluation activities to elevate hospital safety standards.
• On-Call Availability: Accepting and managing an on-call schedule as determined by the Director to ensure continuous program coverage.

To be considered for this Infection Preventionist opportunity, you must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Nursing, or another health science-related field, alongside a minimum of three years of clinical experience in an acute care facility. Prior experience in infection prevention is preferred. A Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is highly preferred upon hire, and obtaining your CIC is required within five years of entering the role.
