The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
As a Communications Operator, you’ll serve as an important connection point for patients, visitors, physicians, staff, and departments throughout the hospital. You’ll operate the telephone console and public address paging system, provide accurate information, and support daily hospital communications while maintaining a courteous and professional experience.
As a Communications Operator, a typical day might include:
- Providing telephone console coverage and answering incoming calls promptly and courteously.
- Relaying calls to individuals and departments throughout the hospital.
- Operating the public address paging system to page requested individuals and make authorized announcements.
- Answering routine questions from callers and visitors according to hospital policies and referring questions to the appropriate individual when needed.
- Reviewing daily schedules, programs, and activities to remain informed and provide accurate information.
- Maintaining and updating the alphanumeric employee listing each month.
- Remaining familiar with the hospital’s internal and external disaster plans.
- Performing miscellaneous hospital communications, clerical, and receptionist responsibilities.
- Supporting other communication-related duties as assigned by management.

- You can use good judgment when determining when to answer questions and when to refer them to the appropriate individual.
- You are attentive to detail and able to maintain accurate information and records.
- You are willing to learn hospital communication systems and procedures.
To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Fluent in English and Spanish is strongly preferred. Previous experience as a telephone operator is preferred, but candidates who demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills and a willingness to learn will be considered.
Schedule: Day shift, 9:00am-5:30pm, Full-Time 40 hours per week.
