This Cytotechnologist role offers the opportunity to work alongside pathologists, laboratory professionals, and clinical teams in a supportive environment focused on quality, innovation, and continuous learning.

As a Cytotechnologist, you will play a critical role in the detection and diagnosis of malignancies, premalignant conditions, atypias, and inflammatory processes through the microscopic evaluation of gynecological and non-gynecological specimens. You will provide diagnostic support through specimen screening, documentation, quality practices, and rapid on-site evaluations while contributing to efficient laboratory operations and outstanding patient outcomes.

Joining RWJBarnabas Health means becoming part of an organization where laboratory professionals are empowered to grow their expertise, make meaningful contributions, and positively impact the health of the communities we serve.

A typical day for a Cytotechnologist may include:

• Accurately document and maintain all required laboratory records, reports, and testing documentation in accordance with departmental and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory personnel to support timely and accurate diagnostic interpretations.
• Perform Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) for Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA), Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), and ION procedures.
• Evaluate specimen adequacy during on-site procedures and communicate findings to the appropriate clinical team members.
• Adhere to laboratory quality assurance, quality control, and regulatory compliance standards.
• Utilize laboratory information systems and documentation processes to ensure accurate specimen tracking and reporting.
• Assist with Cytology preparation activities and perform duties typically assigned to the Cytology Prep Assistant when needed.

• Maintain compliance with all laboratory safety, infection prevention, and accreditation standards.

• You thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities with precision.
• You are committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and patient safety.
• You enjoy collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
