Our Manager of Adult Psych (Psychiatric Therapy Operations) works collaboratively to promote optimal development, functional recovery, and therapeutic engagement in hospitalized acute psychiatric patients. By providing comprehensive programming, evidence-based clinical support, and direct operational leadership, our manager ensures the inpatient therapeutic milieu delivers a structured healing environment. A Typical Day

  • Operational Leadership & Scheduling: Directing shift workflows, managing department schedules, and coordinating coverage for acute psychiatric inpatient units and therapeutic activity groups when assigned staff are absent.
  • Clinical Supervision & Mentorship: Supervising, mentoring, and evaluating the performance of staff occupational therapists, recreation therapists, creative arts therapists, and clinical interns.
  • Therapeutic Program Development: Leading the design, expansion, and scheduling of group therapies, psychoeducational sessions, and structured therapeutic activities across acute adult units in active collaboration with the Director.
  • Multi-Agency Treatment Planning: Actively participating in multidisciplinary clinical conferences to incorporate specialized behavioral health and occupational therapy interventions into master plans of care.
  • Clinical Screening & Assessment: Overseeing clinical screening processes and comprehensive behavioral health assessments for newly admitted inpatient populations within 24 hours of hospital admission.
  • MHW Staff Coaching: Training, auditing, and mentoring Bachelor-level Mental Health Workers (MHW) to ensure quality and consistency in delivering therapeutic leisure and recovery groups.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Training: Facilitating department-wide in-service training on emerging, evidence-based practices to ensure total clinical documentation alignment and readiness for outside accrediting agencies.

To Be Considered

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant clinical therapeutic field (such as Occupational Therapy, Counseling, or Behavioral Health Sciences) from an accredited institution is required.
  • Licensure: An active state board license as an Occupational Therapist (OT) or equivalent clinical credential in good standing in the State of New Jersey is strictly required.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of specialized psychiatric clinical experience is required. Prior supervisory, manager-level, or assistant director experience within an adult acute inpatient psychiatric setting is highly preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit frequently throughout the day during clinical documentation, with the physical coordination to occasionally stand, walk, or push/pull up to 10 pounds during clinical group activities.
