The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
The Patient Navigator will work to assist in streamlining front access to the Morahan Center (MJM) patients in conjunction with MJM staff. The patient navigator will answer the MJM center phone line as well as contact any online appointment submission requests, answering any routine questions, and will serve as an integral community liaison for patients that express interest in services. The patient navigator coordinates with insurance providers and sports medicine patients to ensure all necessary referrals are obtained.
As a Patient Navigator, a typical day might include the following:
- Creating and maintaining health record information, files and organizes as needed
- Establishing and maintaining communication with physician practices, schools, patients, parents and various institutions through coordination of care
- Assisting in executing established program policies and procedures and assuming responsibility for maintaining program standards.
- Assisting with community cardiac and concussion screenings in varying locations as needed
- Complying with departmental scheduling guidelines promotes prompt and consistent services and incorporates patients’ rights
- Providing patient education on program screenings, services, and follow- up procedures with ability to promote special programming via phone or web-based platform to community partners
- Demonstrating speed and efficiency as well as flexibility in the provisions of care, utilizing effective critical thinking skills for coordinating patient care under the direction of the management team and administrative director
- Utilizing effective communication skills with direct management team, managing and/or referring physicians, athletic trainers, sport contracts, schools, and supportive clinical staff for effective management of clinical cases and effective patient outcomes that support all HRO principals
- Establishing and maintaining communication with supervising physicians, referring to physician practices, schools, and various institutions/individuals who have contracted our service
- Scheduling and triage for athletic patients following sports injury or concussion and effectively communicates with team
- Working well with both administration and medical leadership to help execute and support strategies that increase athlete referrals
- Working well with other staff to help always execute program and scheduling policies and procedures for the Matthew J. Morahan III Health Assessment Center for Athletes
- Assisting with community cardiac and concussion screenings at varying locations as needed for registration and check-in
- Maintaining patient satisfaction with scheduling and coordinating appointments. Competent in scheduling through Epic and in following proper procedures for pre-registration of patients, arrival, and tracking of patients and patient visit metrics
- Verifying insurance, billing, clerical procedures, tracking referrals for ROI data, and overall office procedures

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a bachelor’s degree with experience in care coordination. Experience or familiarity with sports medicine services and/or athletics, experience in pediatric patients preferred. Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office and proficient computer skills. Familiarity with office equipment such as copiers and fax machines. Must demonstrate willingness to learn. Per Diem, day, flexible with schedule, as needed.
