Job Summary:
The Advance Practice Nurse (APN) functions as an independent advanced practice professional in an expanded role. This requires collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Care is provided to Medical/ Hematology oncology patients in the ambulatory and hospital settings. The APN will work alongside the physicians and the clinical team within the multidisciplinary oncology service line, designed to meet the needs of cancer populations within the continuum of care; cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, etc. The major responsibilities include expanded patient assessment, triage, diagnosis, coordination and documentation of care. Management to restore, maintain and improve the health status of patients. In addition, the APN is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous and medical errors.
Education Skills Required (Degree(s), Certification(s), License, etc.)
Work Experience Required:
Oncology background; Ambulatory care background; Function as a liaison for the Medical Center, physician groups and the general public; Teaching/education skills required. Must have the ability to teach patients and caregivers, nursing staff, support staff; Public speaking experience preferred and adequate writing skills.
