RWJBH is seeking a highly dedicated Clinical Data Analyst for our Trauma Services. The clinical data analyst for Trauma Services or Trauma Registrar collects correlates analyzes and inputs data from properly identified trauma patients.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BSN
  • Two (2) years experience in current licensure/certification.
  • Direct patient care experience required.
  • Experience with computer use and data entry required.
  • Applicants for this position must either possess upon hire or meet within a defined time period after employment, the regulatory certificates and continuing education requirements of the regulatory bodies for trauma centers

Preferred:

  • Experience working with the traumatically injured patient population, trauma registry experience, or registry experience highly preferred.
  • National certification for clinical specialty

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • BLS and ACLS Certification
  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
  • Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM)

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitates the safe and effective functioning of the unit as demonstrated by
  • Maintains and manages the computerized trauma registry for the hospital in accordance with all policies of the regulatory agencies that govern trauma center verification,
  • Maintains confidentiality and security of patient information and the integrity of statistics,
  • Collects correlates analyzes and inputs data from properly identified trauma patients,
  • Attends Trauma Committee / QA Subcommittee, Trauma Center Council, Trauma Management Group and other meetings and educational seminars as needed.
  • Assists the Chief, Trauma Surgery and Trauma Program Manager with performance improvement activities.
  • Capable of interpreting medical record data and calculating and assigning injury (and other) scores as appropriate.
  • Acts in an ethical and legal manner, and assures that all actions are in the best interest of both patients and the hospital.
  • Generates inquiry letters to the respective Medical Examiner s office for autopsy reports.
  • Generates follow-up letters to referring emergency physicians and prehospital providers who leave a written report.
  • Attends walk rounds on Monday and Fridays and multidisciplinary rounds on Wednesdays.
  • Prepares reports and statistical analysis for appropriate hospital / Network personnel and committees.
  • Participates in the Pediatric Trauma Registry as per established procedures.
  • Participates in professional trauma organizations at the local, state or national levels pertaining to data management and systems review.
  • Maintains all records of trauma registry patients according to proper policy and procedure. Maintains confidentiality and security of patient information and the integrity of statistics.
  • Maintains active involvement in the Critical Incident Stress Management team.
