Located in Belleville, Clara Maass Medical Center is a facility of RWJBarnabas Health and provides a complete continuum of care to residents of northern New Jersey. With over 700 physicians and 2,100 employees, we offer advanced treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions. Our facility includes centers for advanced wound care, sleep disorders, bariatrics, orthopedics cardiac services, cancer care, emergency services, and more. In 2017, the Medical Center completed a state-of-the-art campus expansion featuring a new four-story 87,000 square foot building with a private, 32-bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby, Retail Pharmacy, Patient Registration Area, and a recently expanded Emergency Department.

We are currently looking for a Short Order Cook who is quick, organized, and can handle all aspects of food preparation. The responsibilities include keeping food preparation areas clean, grilling, cooking, and frying foods, taking orders, serving dishes to customers, and ordering and stocking kitchen and food supplies.

Responsibilities:

  • Take customer orders and prepare food to their specifications.
  • Grill, cook, and fry foods.
  • Plan and manage work orders to ensure all items of an order are finished and served at the same time.
  • Grill and garnish hamburgers and other meats.
  • Perform simple food preparation tasks, such as slicing up meats and vegetables.
  • Complete orders from steam tables, plate the food, and serve to the customers.
  • Order supplies and stocking the shelves.
  • Rotate food and stamp the time and date on the food in the coolers.
  • Clean food preparation equipment and areas.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • On-the-job training in food preparation and sanitation techniques.
  • The ability to multi-task and work quickly and efficiently.
  • The ability to speak multiple languages would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Manual dexterity and a good sense of taste.
