Job Summary

The Lead Emergency Department Tech is a professional individual who is responsible for departmental administrative duties as designated by the Emergency Department Director. These duties include collection of schedule availability from all emergency department technicians, ordering, organization and maintenance of unit specific supplies to facilitate patient treatment and flow through the department. The Lead ED Tech will act as a preceptor and mentor to ensure consistency and continuity of departmental patient care and flow expectations. The ED Lead Tech will assist with staff development and in promoting an organizational culture that fosters teamwork. The ED Lead Tech demonstrates a strong ability to collaborate with ED Team leaders to identify, analyze and effectively solve conflict resolutions. He/She effectively encourages open communications with staff members to achieve mutual understandings and cooperative behavioral team efforts. In addition to the above stated role, the ED Lead Tech will also function as part of the ED Tech staff and will adhere to the below stated standards. The Emergency Room Tech provides care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics. The ED Tech assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for his/her own professional advancement. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments, i ,e,; damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas and medical errors. Responsible for knowledge of the patient population served. Communicates effectively and collaborates with nurses and other patient care providers. The ED Tech as an individual practitioner and interdisciplinary team member integrating all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patients needs. Other essential duties as required.

Education/Training/Certification/Licensure:

High School graduate or equivalent (GED). Satisfactory completion of the Clinical Care Partner Skill Program or successful passing of the Clinical Care Partner Skills Challenge Examination on orientation. Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English. Prior knowledge of medical terminology and ED Technician experience preferred. Current American heart Association CPR/BLS required. Medical assistant certification, EMT certification or previous experience required.
