Summary of Job Function:

This position is under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. To anticipate the surgeon s need and expedite the procedure thereby minimizing the patient s exposure to trauma intra-operatively.

1. Know the procedure, Aeseptic Technique, Instrumentation

2. Check surgeon s preference card and written routine

3. Check room and equipment

Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, incorrect counts, medication errors.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current New Jersey Licensure or eligibility of Licensure preferred.
  • Graduate of a surgical technician program preferred.
  • Certification and enrollment in a professional organization desired.
  • One to three years hospital related experience required.
  • BLS Required
