Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current critical care or stepdown experience required.

Preferred:

  • BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Current New Jersey RN license
  • Current AHA BLS Certification
  • Current ACLS Required

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 7:00-7:30

Essential Functions:

  • Assists as directed in PI activities including data collection analysis.
  • Assumes charge nurse responsibilities when directed.
  • Completes patient acuity classification according to facility policy.
  • Complies with unit and departmental scheduling guidelines.
  • Delegates and prioritizes work assignments according to the individual associate s competence and patient care needs.
  • Demonstrate competency in Blood Glucose monitoring.
  • Demonstrate competency in Restraint Management and application.
  • Demonstrates competency in pain management by recording the patient s pain intensity, implementing interventions based on the plan of care andproviding patient / family education.
  • Demonstrates management of patient receiving moderate sedation to facilitate a procedure.
  • Evaluates effectiveness, interventions and revises plan of care accordingly.
  • Implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department.
  • Initiates/develops multidisciplinary care plans and discharge plans in accordance with department standards and using appropriate tools, e.g., patientcare pathways.
  • Integrates psychosocial, physical, nutritional, and rehabilitation needs of the patient in-patient care and discharge planning.
  • Manages the care of the pre-operative/pre-procedural patient according to hospital policies and standards of care.
  • Performs assessment and reassessment of patients according to applicable department standards and identified tools.
  • Performs interventions in accordance with current policy and procedures, safety guidelines and infection control principles.
  • Proficient in the use of the Fall Prevention Protocol.
  • Proof of intravenous certification in education file.
  • Provides patient/family education according to the plan of care and documents same.
  • Sets goals and formulates appropriate multidisciplinary interventions to meet these goals.
  • Transmits pertinent patient information to appropriate individual (i.e., MD, supervisor, discharge planner, etc.).
