Peer Support Staff, Emergency Screening

Job Overview:

Provide face to face contact with patients in the psychiatric emergency room, explore services needed, support referrals, and provide follow-up calls for those discharged.

Qualifications:

Required:

• HS Diploma
• Experience with behavioral health and substance use disorders

Preferred:

• Bachelors degree preferred

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist via Consumer Connections, or be eligible and able to complete within first 3 months

Scheduling Requirements:

• Shift working, day shift
• Monday-Friday; flexible in terms of 4 weekdays and one weekend day
• FT

Essential Functions:

• Provide recovery support and peer coaching to program participants
• Attend DMHAS State mandated trainings delineating peer role functions, competencies, responsibilities, and orientation to DMHAS treatment initiatives
• Work with individuals to support and strengthen their capacity to engage in personal recovery through wellness services, development of recovery plans/wellness recovery action plans, education on navigating treatment social services and recovery support programs
• Provide both face to face and telephone support services based on personal choice and maintain aftercare contacts based on agency procedures
