Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified full-time Physical Therapist in Hillsborough, NJ.

We are a freestanding, outpatient clinic that is part of the largest academic health system in New Jersey. We deliver patient-centered care with a focus on one-to-one manual therapy with ample treatment time for each patient. Service lines include: sports and orthopedic care, concussion care program, balance and vestibular, and pelvic floor therapy. Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Physical Therapy at the Bachelor or Post Bachelor level and licensed

Preferred:

  • Active membership in a professional organization

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • BLS certification through American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift, 40 hours/week
  • Full Time Schedule

Essential Functions:

Provides thorough, appropriate care to all patients such that:

  • Patient is identified with 100% accuracy before treatment is initiated.
  • Complete treatments, designed to meet specific documented goals are implemented using appropriate techniques and modalities.
  • Proper body mechanics are used to ensure the health and safety of both patients and clinician.

  • Clear, complete instructions are given in terms the listener can understand.
  • Sessions reflect an atmosphere of positive emotional support and encouragement, as well as physical support.
  • Treatment plans are periodically adjusted to meet the changing skill level of the patient.
  • Provides patient and/or significant other teaching to prepare for safe discharge. May include functional activities, home program, counseling for interpretation and clarification of instructions/goals.
  • Makes appropriate discharge recommendations and updates, as needed.

Consults with referring physicians as indicated to ensure:

  • Clear, accurate, thorough reporting of findings and treatment parameters.
  • Physicians understand and are in agreement with treatment plan and anticipated modalities.
  • Physicians are aware of, and in agreement with , discharge plans for all patients.
  • Physicians understand relevant aspects of patient progress and/or patient limitations.

Patient records are accurately and thoroughly maintained according to department policy and procedure so that:

  • Evaluation, treatment plans and goals are completed within 48 hours of initial evaluation.
  • Documentation will adhere to outlined departmental guidelines.
  • Calendars are marked to indicate visits at the end of each work day.
  • Charges are prepared and submitted to secretary by 9:30 of the next work day.
  • Documentation of home program instructions are complete, accurate, and entered at the end of each session.
  • Discharge summary is complete, accurate and easily found in all discharged patient chart.
  • Charts are completed promptly.

Supervise the activities of the Physical Therapy Aide, Escort, Student or Volunteer to ensure:

  • Patient safety with appropriate level of involvement of each participant. Patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Body mechanics are employed properly to minimize injury.
  • All support personnel maintain an appropriate professional demeanor at all times in the department.
  • Meets productivity standards.
