Job Overview:

Assists Physical Therapists in the treatment of assigned patients. Observes, records, reports to Physical Therapy conditions, reactions and responses related to assigned duties.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associates Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
  • NJ Physical Therapy Assistant License or eligible
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification required
  • Completion of a pediatric affiliation
  • Tact, initiative and judgment in performance of duties

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • NJ Physical Therapy Assistant License or eligible.
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full Time
  • 40 hours/week

Essential Functions:

  • Selects and utilizes appropriate treatment techniques as designated in competency expectations, using creativity to maintain patient interest and compliance, and adapting these techniques to the changing needs of the patient.
  • Completes all discharge needs appropriate to the patient and their family, as designated in competency expectations, and makes attempts to involve patient s family and other significant personnel in patient s treatment plan and/or program.
  • Communicates effectively, in both oral and written formats, in both formal and informal situations, following documentation policies and their timelines.
  • Uses sound safety principles during care and handling of patients, follows infection control guidelines, and encourages and supports others in the department in maintaining a safe clean environment.
  • Assists in training other Physical Therapy Assistants, students, and aides, and attempts to motivate such personnel to enthusiastically support the principles of quality care.
  • Takes the initiative for professional improvement and seeks out resources for ensuring knowledge of diagnostic groups and developmental expectations.
  • Communicates regularly and effectively with the primary therapist regarding all aspects of the patients on the PTA s caseload, following licensing regulations, giving timely information and suggestions for progression of treatment.
