Job Summary:
The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for performing duties independently following established and standardized procedures and methods referring questionable situations to physician. The NP/PA provides primary health care through assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment and management to restore, maintain and improve the health status of patients. In addition, the NP/PA is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e.damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
Job Requirements( APN/NP):
- Must have active NP RNFA or a PA.
- Someone who can be in the OR.
- Master s degree in Nursing required.
- Registered Professional Nurse with current NJ state license; CDS and DEA.
- CPR certification.
- NP Certification.
- Three to five years of work experience as a professional nurse.
Job Requirements (Physician Assistant):
- Physician Assistant Certification,
- Registration & Licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners/ Physician Assistant Advisory
- Basic Life Support (BLS);
- Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
Essential Functions:
- Provide direct clinical services for surgical patients according to established protocols and evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of attending physicians.
- Perform patient admission evaluation to include: obtaining basic medical information and history, reviewing patient's medical record, performing physical exam, documenting findings into electronic medical record, and reporting deviations from normal findings to the attending physician.
- Assess patient for change in status and institute appropriate interventions. Initiate necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patient.
- Collaborate with and perform daily rounds with the resident and attending physician teams.
- Examine pre and post-operative patients, perform comprehensive examination, complete patient assessment based on findings; implement treatment plan for pre and post-operative management in collaboration with the supervising physician; document in medical record.
- Utilize prescriptive privileges as allowed by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners. Document all prescriptions in patient's medical record.
- First Assist in performing surgical procedures consistent with standards of care.
- Collaborate with social work, case management and physician advisors for maximum efficiency of patient s hospital stay and discharge planning
- Provide patients & families with information related to post-discharge home care & other pertinent education.
- Role model the Medical Center s mission, vision and values through conduct, appearance, communication, culture of respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the use of AIDET.
- Inpatient hospital based role.
