Job Overview:

Administers respiratory treatments and therapies according to physician order and guidelines of the Respiratory Care Licensure Act

Qualifications:

Required:

  • AAS degree or certificate from an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Preferred:

  • One year of experience preferred, but willing to train

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • RT or RRT credentials
  • NJ Respiratory Care Practitioner License
  • BLS
  • ACLS

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Part-Time

Essential Functions:

  • Performs patient assessment pre, during, and post procedure for all ages groups including pediatric, adult, and geriatric
  • Demonstrates competency in assessment based on patient age, as well as physical and emotional growth
  • Demonstrates competence with all respiratory modalities and equipment
  • Performs maintenance and quality control procedures for pulmonary function testing and blood analyzers
  • Performs invasive procedures according to hospital and departmental guidelines, and endorses all critical results
  • Follows disinfection and sterilization procedures
  • Demonstrates knowledge of ventilation modes, weaning, and safety procedures for all age groups
  • Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, clinical personnel, patients, and visitors
  • Assumes role of Charge Person when indicated according to department guidelines
  • Completes departmental documentation and charges by the shift end
