Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified Per Diem Respiratory Therapist in Somerville, NJ. This position provides for the treatment, disease management, control, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiac and pulmonary system.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid NJ State Respiratory Care Practitioner License
  • RRT certification by National Board for Respiratory Care
  • BLS certification and ACLS certification
  • NRP certification required within 60 days of hire

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions remove when posting):

  • Day Shift
  • Per Diem Schedule

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to see and hear well, have mechanical and manual dexterity to work with machines
  • Must be able to apply scientific knowledge and theory to practical problems and basic mathematics
  • Able to collect, assess or retrieve data reflective of the patients
  • Collaborates with physician in the development of overall plan of care
  • Demonstrates correct operation of equipment and understands rationale for use
  • Demonstrates knowledge of codes
  • Documents staff/patient incidents and notifies individuals of events
  • Follows the established infection control practices such as hand hygiene, glove disposal, etc
  • Initiates treatments as ordered of MDI, HFN, CPT, Aerosol treatment under physician s supervision
  • Interprets and evaluates the appropriate information needed to identify each patient s needs and requirements relative to his/her age specific needs
  • Maintains and uses pulmonary equipment such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, and aerosol generators
  • Maintains inventory of respiratory supplies and alerts Practice Manager of inventory needs
