Job Summary

Fabricates seating and positioning equipment for patients in the inpatient units at Children s Specialized Hospital. Maintains all patient positioning equipment in safe working condition.

Essential Job Functions

  • Quick and efficient fabrication of seating & positioning equipment utilized by the hospital employing largely carpentry skills.
  • Operate equipment in safe, professional manner as directed by Seating & Positioning Technician.
  • Fit, adjust and adapt patient equipment, largely seating & positioning devices, at direction of project leaders within department or therapists treating a particular patient.
  • Travel to other hospital locations, institutions and/or patient homes to service clients.

Formal Education and Job-Related Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED or will be required to obtain High School Diploma/GED with 6 months of hire
  • Technical or trade school training in the areas of construction, mechanics or carpentry is desired.
  • Knowledge of wheelchair and other adaptive equipment is desired.
  • Knowledge and use of basic shop tools required to work with a variety of materials and tools in the construction of patient seating and positioning equipment.
  • Must have valid drivers license, clean driving record.
  • Good organizational and inventory skills.

  • Regular contact with personnel of all departments, especially Therapy staff.

  • All hospital locations, institutions and/or patient homes.
