Job Overview:

RWJBH Security Manager manages the security operations of the Hospital to maintain the safety of all persons, patients, coworkers, visitors, etc. They will provide direct supervision to members assigned to the security department. They will also maintain the departmental personnel schedule to provide uniform coverage and performs bimonthly payroll processing and audits.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 7-10 years of security experience with 5 years supervisory management experience.
  • Familiarity with NFPA Codes and Standards required.
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission Environment of Care, Life Safety, Fire Risk and Security standards required.
  • FEMA certification in ICS 100, 200 and 700 required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Possession of a valid New Jersey Driver s License with eligibility to be covered by RWJBH insurance carrier.
  • Obtain Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification within ninety (90) days of hire.
  • Ability to acquire certification for de-escalation training such as CPI or Handle with Care Behavioral Management System within ninety (90) days of hired.

Preferred:

  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Membership in the International Association of Hospital, Safety and Security Directors preferred.
  • Security Officer Registration Act certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in keyboarding/data entry and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong command over verbal and written communication.
  • Bilingual language skills to effectively communicate with a multilingual community preferred but not required. (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, Polish depending on facility needs.)

Scheduling Requirements

  • 7:00am 3:30pm
  • Full Time

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for departmental training.

  • Tracks compliance of FEMA certifications for senior management and directors/managers.

  • Assists with emergency management preparation and planning.
  • Conducts bi-monthly Hazard Surveillance Tours.
  • Develops an expertise on the security electronic systems badge access, CCTV, Electronic Log Records, etc.
  • Manages process of generating and issuing Hospital employee photo identification.
  • Inspects all offsite locations on a monthly basis for fire extinguisher, emergency lighting and exit signs compliance.
  • Maintains records of inspections, issues work orders for failures and tracks repair completions.
  • Ensures proper inspection of all fire extinguishers on a monthly basis.
  • Maintains the visitor access and control procedures.
  • Investigates breaches of security, Fire Safety Violations, complaints and other assignments affecting staff, patients, visitors and others while on Hospital premises.
  • Provides oversight and direction to the Hospital with regard to workplace violence.
  • Chairs Workplace Violence Committee.
