Job Overview:

The Interventional Radiology Technologist provides patient services using fluoroscopy and/or diagnostic ultrasound equipment. The technologist is competent in sterile techniques, vascular and non-vascular surgical procedures and assists the Radiologist in the production and analysis of images used by physicians for patient diagnosis and treatment. In addition, the individual must be prepared to render quality patient care by exercising discretion and judgment in the performance of procedures.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic School
  • NJ State licensure
  • ARRT Certification
  • BLS through the American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift
  • Per Diem
  • The schedule varies based on the needs of the department

Essential Functions:

  • Performs Interventional Procedures for Inpatients and Outpatients According to Published Departmental Protocols
  • Review each requisition prior to the examination to ensure all pertinent information is available
  • Assist Radiologist with Specialized Interventional Procedures e.g. arteriogram, Single and biplane fluoroscopy, filters, stent placement, and drainage
  • Performs diversified duties required for completion of Interventional procedure Ex. Table set-ups, draping patient, practices sterile techniques and preventing cross contamination
  • Select the appropriate type and number of high-quality images
  • Performs Interventional procedures with high standard of positioning
  • Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot equipment when difficulties or malfunctions occur
  • Performs other tasks and duties as required
