Job Overview:

The Tobacco Treatment Specialist provides tobacco cessation support to NJ residents, including internal and external referrals.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor s degree in education, counseling or related field
  • Must complete or have completed training for a tobacco treatment specialist from a credentialed agency within one year of employment
  • Must possess or obtain within one year of employment the National Certificate in Tobacco Treatment Practice (NCTTP) through the NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals
  • Must possess excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development/training, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

Preferred:

  • Master s degree
  • Bilingual a plus

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Bachelor s degree in education, counseling or related field

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 8am - 4pm (evenings and weekends, when required)
  • Monday - Friday
  • Full-Time

Essential Functions:

  • Identify and assess a minimum of 20 unduplicated patients per month
  • Maintain a minimum of 40 patients at all times
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation as required by grant
  • Participate in group activities with patients that include group discussion and educational activities
  • Provide telehealth and in-person counseling
  • Provide tobacco program services to community programs
  • Attend local health fairs and community events to promote the program, and work with the marketing department to increase program awareness
  • Attend required quit center meetings
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
