Job Overview:

The Registered Dietitian (RD) is responsible for providing optimal nutrition services as an integral part of the healthcare system and within the local community. The Registered Dietitian will also strive for continuous improvement of services and customer satisfaction, as well as professional growth. 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • B.S. or advanced degree with major studies in Foods and Nutrition or Dietetics
  • One (1) year clinical experience 

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or A.D.A. membership with eligibility for registration

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem (PD)

Essential Functions:

  • Identifies what the patient’s educational needs are
  • Instructs patients / families on appropriate diet therapy
  • Participates in the interdisciplinary patient teaching process
  • Documents all pertinent information in the patient’s medical record
  • Confers with physicians, nursing and case management as related to total patient care
  • Follows standard practices and complies with regulatory requirements
  • Helps plan and implement nutrition projects for the community through services such as speaking engagements and classes
  • Performs assigned meal rounds and makes appropriate suggestions for correction of patient problems
  • Reviews medical records, assesses patient needs, and implements appropriate nutritional care plan to provide optimal care
  • Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service
  • Conducts in-service sessions for hospital personnel
  • Attends patient care conferences
