As the Laboratory Supervisor of the Blood Bank at Newark Beth Israel, below are your key responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day operational oversight of the Blood Bank / Transfusion Services
  • Ensure safe, accurate, and timely provision of blood and blood components
  • This role provides technical leadership, staff supervision, regulatory compliance oversight, and quality assurance in accordance with AABB, CAP, CLIA, FDA, and hospital policies
  • Perform or supervise complex immunohematology testing (ABO/Rh, antibody identification, crossmatching) and component modification (irradiation)
  • Review records of blood testing, processing, and transfusion reactions; manage Occurrence Report Forms for process improvement
  • Supervises duties related to record documentation, consults with Medical Director and Administrative Director on regulatory compliance updates
  • Participates in the administrative and budgetary operations of the section

The Laboratory Supervisor role might be for you if you:

  • Have previous experience in Laboratory leadership at a high-volume healthcare facility
  • Have previous experience working in a Blood Bank
  • Excellent customer service
  • Outstanding communication skills including verbal and written

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a Bachelor of Science or Medical Technology degree and Minimum of 3 years experience as a medical technologist. ASCP or NCA certification preferred.
