The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Summary:
The components of the role include clinical practice, consultation, professional development, program building, education and research in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The primary medical center location will be the outpatient clinical location with affiliation at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.
The Pediatric Nephrology APN provides care and management for patients on the pediatric nephrology service in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team with an increased level of accountability.
The APN coordinates care for complex, medically fragile patients. A wide degree of patient care autonomy/latitude is expected.
Clinic and Inpatient responsibilities will be included within the scope, including post-op, follow up, history and physical exam, and consultation.
The Pediatric Nephrology APN also serves as clinical leader and educator for both medical and nursing staff, providing mentorship for RNs and RN Coordinators.
Extended coverage to additional hospitals within the RWJBarnabas Health System and outpatient clinical sites will be determined at the discretion of the Medical Director of Pediatric Nephrology, RWJBH Northern Region.

Essential Functions:
- Manages the delivery of all clinical activities in the Clinic Area on a daily basis
- Assists in the development and monitoring of systems/processes in the Clinic Area that will ensure patients receive competent care delivered in an efficient manner
- Performs effectively in life-threatening situations by anticipating emergent problems and initiating appropriate interventions
- Provides direct patient care within scope of practice to ensure implementation of the plan of care
- Documents all aspects of patient care
- Maintains current professional skills and continues professional growth to enhance the practice of nursing and the image of the organization
- Understands and adheres to RWJBH compliance standards as they appear in RWJBH Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in Nursing
- Registered Professional Nurse with current NJ state license
- CDS and DEA
- BLS and PALS certification
- APN License
- NP Certification
- Three to five years of work experience as a professional nurse
- Spanish speaking preferredĀ
