Job Overview:

The Nurse Practitioner Pediatric Cardiology is an advanced practice registered nurse responsible for providing comprehensive, patient-centered care to pediatric cardiology patients in both outpatient and/or inpatient settings. The NP will conduct independent clinical sessions, evaluate and manage patients with congenital and acquired heart conditions, and collaborate closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team.

In addition to direct patient care, the NP will be responsible for fulfilling required clinical hours, holding scheduled clinical sessions, and completing all associated administrative responsibilities to support efficient practice operations and high-quality patient care.

    Licenses and Certifications:

    • Masters or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
    • Current, unrestricted NP license in the state of practice.
    • Board certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with pediatric experience.
    • Current BLS and PALS certification
    • DEA and CDS

    Qualifications:

    • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills in pediatric populations.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
    • Excellent communication and family-centered care skills.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Proficiency in EMR documentation and clinical systems.
    • Commitment to quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.
    • Pediatric cardiology experience preferred.

    Schedule:

    • Mon-Friday 8:30a-4:30p

    Essential Functions:

    • Conduct comprehensive assessments of pediatric patients with cardiac conditions, including history, physical examination, and diagnostic interpretation.
    • Independently see patients during assigned clinical hours and hold designated clinic sessions.
    • Develop, implement, and manage treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
    • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., EKGs, echocardiograms, lab work, imaging studies) within scope of practice.
    • Provide follow-up care and ongoing management of acute and chronic cardiac conditions.
    • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and lifestyle recommendations.
    • Coordinate care with cardiologists, primary care providers, nursing staff, and ancillary departments.
    • Participate in inpatient rounding and consults as assigned.
    • Respond to patient messages, lab results, and urgent clinical needs in a timely manner.
    • Maintain required clinical hours and productivity expectations as determined by the department.
    • Hold scheduled clinic sessions consistently and reliably.
    • Complete timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
    • Review and respond to EMR messages, test results, and patient communications within established turnaround times.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, and performance improvement activities.
    • Assist with protocol development, clinical pathway implementation, and policy updates as needed.
    • Support compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
    • Participate in scheduling coordination and clinic optimization efforts when requested.
    • The NP is expected to maintain assigned clinical hours and independently manage scheduled clinic sessions.
    • Timely completion of documentation and administrative tasks is required.
    • Participation in team meetings, quality initiatives, and departmental responsibilities is mandatory.
    • Flexibility to support patient care needs across clinic and inpatient settings as necessary.
    • Other duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
