The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
The Pharmacy Technician assists in the provision of pharmaceutical services under supervision of the Registered Pharmacist by performing the technical, clerical and manipulative tasks involved in dispensing, preparing, and distributing all medications and pharmaceutical products for all patient age groups includes geriatrics, adult, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal,
Work and/or performance shall conform to written established policies and procedures,
Section III: Job Qualifications
Education/Training/Certification/Licensure: High School graduate or equivalent,
Associates degree preferred,
Pharmacy Technician Certified/ PTCB or equivalent preferred,
Experience: 1 year of Pharmacy experience,
Successful completion of all orientations,
Special Equipment/ Skills: Baxa and Tpn Compounder knowledge, clean room maintenance and operation,
Work Environment and Hazards: Hazards include risk of physical injury from operation of equipment, compounding chemotherapy,
Understands and adheres to company policies and requirements,EG: Snow day and sick time
Arrives to work on time
Understands and participates on different committees,
Helps co-workers when appropriate,
EG: Other areas of pharmacy responsibility,
Willingness and flexible to work alternating work schedules on short notice,
Will support management and do what is asked,
Maintains and demonstrates knowledge in the following areas of pharmacy practice: calculations, generic-made name relationships; special properties of IV admixtures; Stability s of IV preparations, chemical formulas, abbreviations, common conversions and symbols; maintains and demonstrates awareness of limitations of technicians,
Communicates all discrepancies and information requested with manager,
Completes all QA logs per position,
Documents tasks in Simplifi,
Demonstrates knowledge, skill requirements and expected level of participation in the safety and infection control management program,i,e, Cleanrooms
Stages medications and supplies for compound, and prepares IV admixtures all in a timely manner,
Attends all mandatory/departmental in-services as recommended by regulatory agencies,
Maintains adequate levels of stock medications and adds to order list accordingly,
Does quality work,
Clean, neat and straight,
Willingness to work with attention to detail with the realization that errors may have serious consequences,
Cleans and maintains the clean room and actively works to preserve and improve its quality,
Assists in care and maintenance of departmental premises and equipment,
EG: Tacky mats, cleaning, improvements,
Follows proper safety and infection control procedures and maintains a safe work environment,
Dresses per protocol when working in clean room,
Able to troubleshoot departmental equipment TPN compounder, computers, label, delivery & Zebra printers
Stages compounds and pick & packs deliveries for next day,
Fills out all the proper departmental forms i,e,owe, lent/ borrow, narcotic, rental, time off, payroll
Keeps up with orders
Manages time efficiently,
Performs other duties and responsibilities that are asked of him/her by their Manager
Performs end of month counts accurately and fills out the online count form,
Properly packages deliveries per specific hospital or facility,
Safely and effectively compounds hazardous and chemotherapy drugs,
Follows all USP 800 guidelines,
Appropriately boxes and disposes of hazardous waste for removal,
