Job Overview:
The RN Coordinator for Pediatric Pulmonology and Cystic Fibrosis is responsible for coordinating comprehensive clinical care and administrative operations for patients with cystic fibrosis, ensuring adherence to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation guidelines. This role serves as a central liaison between patients, families, providers, and external organizations while supporting quality improvement initiatives and facilitating seamless patient care across the continuum. The coordinator also plays a key role in patient education, care transitions, and program development.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
• Strong organizational and care coordination skills
• Experience in pediatric or chronic disease management
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
Preferred:
• Experience with cystic fibrosis patient populations
• Familiarity with Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) guidelines and quality initiatives
• Prior experience in care coordination or case management
• Experience with grant coordination or program administration
Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable—remove when posting):
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions—remove when posting):
• Shift working, daytime hours
• Part-time (3 days per week) - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Essential Functions:
• Coordinate the cystic fibrosis clinical program in alignment with CFF guidelines
• Collaborate with the CF Center Director on clinical and administrative operations
• Manage patient scheduling, admissions, procedures, and home IV antibiotic coordination
• Triage patient calls and provide cross-coverage support as needed
• Maintain infection control standards per CFF guidelines
• Review and reconcile medications during patient visits
• Obtain prior authorizations for specialty medications
• Track and manage patient diagnostics including sputum cultures, labs, imaging, and screenings
• Perform annual testing including OGTT and coordinate lab processing
• Administer and track vaccinations, including annual flu vaccines
• Facilitate transition of patients to adult care programs
• Communicate with transplant centers, consultants, and external agencies
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and CF-related programs
• Coordinate newborn screening follow-up, sweat testing, and registry reporting
• Manage grant submissions, renewals, reporting, and site visit coordination
• Serve as liaison with foundations and state programs for funding and compliance
• Educate patients and families in collaboration with the care team
• Attend relevant conferences, consortium meetings, and planning committees
• Communicate test results and treatment plans to patients and families as directed by physicians
