The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma

Preferred:

  • Ability to engage patients during stressful waiting periods
  • Clerical experience
    Basic computer skills
  • Registration and billing experience
  • Data collection and correlation experience

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift, 7:00am-3:30pm
  • Rotating weekends and holidays
  • Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Essential Functions:

  • Participates in the maintenance of unit equipment and environment by:
    • Assuring orderliness of patient care areas
    • Reporting equipment failures promptly to charge nurse
    • Cleaning of unit-based equipment
  • Communicates with all members of the health care team, patients and families:
    • Utilizing therapeutic communication skills with patients and family members
    • Reporting data collected and observed to Registered Nurse immediately
    • Observing patient confidentiality
    • Consistently utilizes universal precautions and any other isolation techniques to minimize transmission of infection
    • Patient records are appropriately maintained by technician.
  • Tracks Invoices and billing for the screening center
    • Collects and maintains data and assists in compiling data for all relevant reporting needs
    • Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her unit, i.e., Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult or Geriatric. Assesses data reflective of each patient's status and interprets information needed in order to identify each patient's age requirements relative to his or her age specific health care needs
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform computer functions required in pre admission testing in accordance with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital policies and procedures by competently utilizing:
    • CM computer system for written order entry
    • Optimum for retrieving patient information for past and future visits
    • Epic system for registration
    • SIS access to OR schedule
  • Front desk responsibilities:
    • Greet patients assess booking status
    • Based on screening tool determine what resources patient will need, example anesthesia and nursing evaluation
    • Create patients PAT charts along with properly facilitating through-put
    • Ensure patients have all diagnostics completed when leaving department by reviewing their chart
    • Register patients to facility
