The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Mental Health Screener responds to the emotional needs of those requesting assistance through screening, assessment, crisis intervention, referral and outreach.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, nursing or related clinical field required 
    • With 3 years of full-time work experience in a mental health setting

OR

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, nursing or related clinical field required
    • With 1 year of experience in a mental health setting

Preferred:

  • Experience within Crisis Intervention and Emergency Services

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Certified New Jersey Mental Health Screener or immediately eligible with six months of hire required

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time, Night Shift (36 hours per week)

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitates voluntary/involuntary hospitalization of clients in accordance with the Emergency Services policies and procedures
  • Fully documents all client contacts and submits in a timely manner
  • Provides and completes all documentation records and forms as stipulated in the Emergency Services Department policies and procedures
  • Provides crisis intervention, information, and referral services on the telephone, in the Emergency Room and throughout the community
  • Brings all unusual situation, incidents or difficulties encountered to the provision of emergency services to the attention of the Director or his/her designate
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
