Job Overview:
Provides direct patient care services to individuals exhibiting communication and or swallowing disorders. Coordinates services with other health professionals. May assist in the training and supervision of students.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology
- NJ State Speech-Language Pathology License
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
- Member of ASHA
- AHA BLS Provider Certification
- Evidence of continuing education is necessary to meet licensing requirements
- Thorough knowledge of the theoretical principles and clinical application employed in the diagnosis and management of various communication and swallowing disorders
Preferred:
- Bilingual communication skills
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- NJ State Speech-Language Pathology License
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or eligible
- Member of ASHA
- AHA BLS Provider Certification
Scheduling Requirements:
- Per Diem
Essential Functions:
- Evaluate the patient to determine the type of speech, language, cognitive, or swallow disorder
- Identify the patient’s speech therapy needs and develop a plan of care with short and long-term goals
- Refer for additional swallowing assessments or to appropriate providers as clinically indicated
- Document and keep appropriate records on each client including evaluations and treatment notes
- Educate the patient, the caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team regarding the methods to assist the patient to work towards their goals
- Participate in planning and development of staff in-service programs and Quality Assurance activities as requested
- Follow HIPAA Compliance at all times
- Maintain DNV regulations
- Function independently with minimal direction from manager
- Comply with unit and department scheduling guidelines
- Maintain and update professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings, workshops, and serving on special committees
- Promote a positive and healthy workplace environment
- Interact with other disciplines, departments, agencies and companies in a professional manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
