The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Assistant Director of the Medical Staff Services works directly with the Administrative Director and support team in the coordination, organization, development of Medical Staff Department. Works to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of the Hospital as well as meeting the requirements of the Medical Staff Bylaws, Joint Commission standards, and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and/or accrediting agencies.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or Medical Staff Certification in lieu of degree required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a hospital setting required, preferably in a Medical Staff Office.
  • Licensing experience required

Preferred:

  • Experience with the Wellbeing Program strongly preferred

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assurance educational objectives are achieved
    • Plans and directs employees to assignments.
    • Provides for inservice and continuing education needs for all personnel.
    • Directs and establish program for orientation of new medical staff members to the hospital environment and the duties and responsibilities of the medical staff and hospital staff.
    • Demonstrates commitment to providing quality service by participating in all required continuing education programs.
    • Facilitates all communication between hospital, medical staff leadership and hospital departments to medical staff members as directed.
  • Assures medical staff functions and guidelines are achieved.
    • Assumes role and responsibility of Director of Medical Staff members as demonstrated by compliance to standards.
    • Prepares and presents reports to the Director of Medical Staff, Medical Director on medical staff recommendations on an as needed basis.
    • Consistently keeps Medical Director and President of Medical Staff informed of departmental activity.
    • Oversees, develops and maintains up to date computer programs.
    • Supports the relationship between the Hospital and the community by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with physician, families, visitors Council members, and/or Hospital employees and volunteers within the department and other departments.
    • Maintains effective working relationships with members of the medical staff and hospital staff
  • Demonstrates knowledge by regulatory guidelines as described.
    • Serves as a resource on Joint Commission requirements to all hospital personnel and Medical Staff members as demonstrated by compliance to standards.
    • Guides the Medical Staff in adherence to Joint Commission requirements and prepares reports to satisfy these requirements resulting in Medical Staff compliance standards.
    • Directs Medical Staff to meet the needs of the Medical Staff and requirements of all regulation agencies according to the Bylaws of the Medical Staff.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of Fair Hearing Plan procedures; provides data as requested by hospital legal counsel.
    • Analyzes and formulates Medical Staff Bylaws for approval by Medical Executive Committee, General Medical Staff is coordinated in an accurate and timely fashion.
    • Teams with risk management consultants, insurance surveyors, Joint Commission physician surveyors and other surveyors to review current Medical Staff organization and make revision when necessary.
  • Responsible for initiation and credentialing function
    • ​​​​​​​Ensures the credentialing of applicants for appointment and reappointment to the Medical Staff in coordinated in an accurate and timely fashion.
    • Ensures dissemination of information regarding credentialing decision to affect individuals and appropriate hospital personnel. Demonstrates commitment to the Total Quality Improvement effort
