Job Overview:
The Occupational Therapist provides ongoing comprehensive clinical evaluations, functional assessments, and medically prescribed occupational therapy interventions to a diverse patient population across multiple care settings, including acute care, Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH), subacute/SNF, and outpatient clinics. Operating within an interdisciplinary framework, this position designs, implements, and modifies objective, age-appropriate treatment plans tailored to each patient's discharge goals and clinical milestones. The Occupational Therapist serves as a vital clinical partner, ensuring rigorous medical documentation, contributing to community health education, and maintaining total alignment with state and national standards of practice.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or professional certificate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.
  • Active national certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Active state licensure issued by the New Jersey State Board of Occupational Therapy.
  • Demonstrated professional English fluency in all oral and written clinical communications.
  • Ability to meet all physical and functional demands of the position in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Preferred:

  • Prior clinical experience operating across varied acuity environments (e.g., acute, outpatient, or subacute settings).
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) platforms and healthcare reimbursement documentation protocols.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem/Day

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluates patients during initial visits, regularly scheduled intervals, and at the point of discharge using objective standardized tests, direct observations, and age-appropriate measurement metrics.
  • Formulates and modifies individual, measurable treatment goals and plans of care based on patient age, functional skill level, post-discharge resources, and family/guardian input.
  • Delivers high-quality, medically prescribed occupational therapy treatments across acute care, LTACH, subacute/SNF, and outpatient environments in strict compliance with licensing and regulatory mandates.
  • Maintains thorough, computerized documentation within the patient’s medical record using standardized medical terminology, satisfying all regulatory, network, and insurance reimbursement criteria.
  • Completes necessary administrative forms, physician progress reports, billing statistics, and insurance coverage letters to facilitate smooth care transitions and support unit quality improvement.
  • Participates actively in multidisciplinary team conferences, patient/family discharge care meetings, and assigned hospital committees to ensure seamless continuity of care.
  • Utilizes advanced clinical techniques and safely operates all therapeutic equipment required to maximize patient safety, motivation, and functional outcomes.
  • Delivers internal department in-service presentations, supervises assigned student clinical affiliates, and contributes to public hospital or community education initiatives within their scope of expertise.
