Job Overview:
The Athletic Trainer will assist physicians with procedures, providing patient education, ordering diagnostic tests, and contributing to the development and growth of the sports medicine practice. This AT position will serve in a dual role with clinical support at multiple clinical locations including but not limited to both Jersey City and Livingston sites,
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor s Degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education) accredited institution
- Current certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC)
- Licensed in the state of New Jersey as an Athletic Trainer
- Maintain the NATABOC-required 50 CEU s per certification period (every two years)
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail,
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Preferred:
- Experience with electronic medical records
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Athletic Trainer Certification (ATC)
- NJ Athletic Trainer License
Scheduling Requirements:
- Full Time
- 40 hours/week
Essential Functions:
- The licensed Athletic Trainer’s clinical responsibilities will include executing established program policies and procedures and assuming responsibility for maintaining program standards
- The AT is an extension of the supervising physician and is to be compliant with the supervising physician s standing orders implementing medical and risk management of all persons covered within these orders
- The AT should regularly consult and communicate with the supervising physician on the medical management of each athlete and/or patient as needed
- Administrative duties that fall under this role will include fellowship coordination and direct collaboration with the fellowship director
- This position is not a supervisory role, however, the fellowship requires a great deal of coordination and collaboration and the AT must engage in a team approach in ensuring the fellow’s successful completion of the program ensuring the program s compliance and accreditation is maintained
- Clinically as an extender, the AT will also support the physician office for musculoskeletal and concussion care
- This will include providing evaluation and testing, support for non-invasive procedures, and, clinical support for patient management within the physician practice setting,
- The AT should have the ability to help cover Morahan Screening programs throughout New Jersey
- They will also assist with the promotion and execution of tactics of enhancing referrals to the Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine Institute, the Morahan Center, and all Barnabas Health Ambulatory Services as it relates to sports injury and musculoskeletal care
- The AT position will also have one administrative day to support organized duties for the sports medicine fellowship as the program’s coordinator
- Accountability for the fellowship will be determined by the fellowship’s program director collaboratively with the Morahan Center leadership team
