Job Overview:

The Medical Assistant (MA) position will be based in the Social Impact department. The position will be community-facing, which includes attending community events and performing Health Screenings on community members. Position will track outcomes and refer appropriately.  The position will also assist in other Social Impact departments, such as our Food Farmacy Program.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED 
• One year of experience as a Nurse’s Aide, EMT, Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist, EKG Tech or equivalent
• Must be able to lift 20lbs

Preferred:

• Bilingual 

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• New Jersey Driver’s License
• BLS certification approved by the American Heart Association (AHA) 
• Medical Assistant Certification: AAMA, AECA, AMCA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, NCMA, or NHA

Scheduling Requirements:

• Day shift, flexible
• Monday - Friday
• Full-Time
• Night and Weekends hours are required

Essential Functions:

• Represent RWJBarnabas Health at community meetings, events, and coalitions to promote services and resources.  (Weekends required)
• Complete health screenings at events (Blood Pressure BMI, Cholesterol, Blood draws)
• Collect and maintain accurate data on outreach activities, participant feedback, and community needs. (Data to include attendance, health outcomes)
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of RWJBarnabas Health services, local health and social services resources to provide referrals and support navigation efforts
• Assist all Social Impact initiatives at JCMC including our Food Farmacy Program (Assists individuals who are food insecure with health needs) Food Farmacy Duties to include: Food Distribution, food receiving/stocking, department and data intakes, interacting with patients, health screenings on patients
• Perform all clerical function in compliance with departmental rules and regulation
• Complies with unit and department scheduling and documentation guidelines as well as policies and procedures
• Promote a positive and healthy workplace environment.  Interact with other disciplines, departments, agencies and insurance companies in a professional manner
• Performs other duties as assigned
