Job Overview:
The coordinator provides essential administrative and clerical support to the Department of Surgery team. This role is responsible for managing various administrative tasks, coordinating schedules, and serving as a liaison between the Department of Surgery and patients
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school graduate with relevant experience.
- Ability to perform and coordinate a variety of detailed and complex duties
- Interpersonal skills to handle multiple telephone lines, and to interact daily with patients, physicians, visitors, other departments and members of the healthcare team in a tactful and courteous manner
Preferred:
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Previous experience in a medical staff office or similar healthcare setting
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems
- Additional certification or training in healthcare administration or related field
- Experience coordinating meetings and events within a healthcare environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and multitask effectively
Scheduling Requirements:
- Shift Working: 8:30am-4:30pm
- Day Shift, Monday-Friday
- Full Time, 37.5 Hours Per Week
Essential Functions:
- The surgical coordinator is responsible for interacting with patients and guests in a healthcare setting
- Manages administrative tasks for the medical team
- Scheduling patient appointments according to physician availability
- Verifies correct insurance information
- Explains intake forms to new patients
- Ensures completion of paperwork
- Collects any referrals and processes co-payments after treatments
