Job Overview:

An Echo Tech performs ultrasound examinations of the heart (echocardiograms) to help physicians diagnose and monitor cardiovascular conditions. They operate specialized imaging equipment, obtain high-quality cardiac images, and assist cardiologists in evaluating heart structure and function within a hospital setting.

Qualifications:

Required:

Certifications:

  • Associate degree or accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Echocardiography,
  • Professional credentials such as RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) or RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer)
  • CPR/BLS certification
  • Strong technical, communication, and patient-care skills
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology
  • Ultrasound imaging proficiency
  • Attention to detail
  • Patient communication and empathy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of EPIC and Intellispace cardiology preferred

Scheduling Requirements

  • Full Time
  • Day Shift

Essential Functions:

Prepare patients for echocardiogram procedures

Perform transthoracic, stress, and sometimes transesophageal echocardiograms

Operate and maintain cardiac ultrasound equipment

Capture and document accurate diagnostic images and measurements

Monitor patient safety and comfort during exams

Maintain patient records and imaging documentation

Communicate findings and technical information to physicians

Follow quality, safety, and infection-control protocols of the hospital

Serves both the impatient and outpatient population, sometimes travelling to hospital rooms to perform studies
