Job Overview:
Join our dedicated multidisciplinary clinical team at Trinitas Regional Medical Center as an Outpatient Oncology Registered Dietitian at our Williamson Street campus. In this highly specialized role, you will provide comprehensive, evidence-based medical nutrition therapy and counseling to adult oncology patients spanning the entire cancer care continuum from prevention through active treatment and long-term survivorship. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to collaborate with oncologist teams, nurses, and leadership to deliver life-changing nutritional care that improves patient strength, limits treatment side effects, and promotes family wellness.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, Human Nutrition, or a comparable major.
- Active credentialing as a Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) / Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Minimum of five (5) years of active experience as a Registered Dietitian delivering direct clinical nutritional care services specifically to oncology patients within a healthcare setting.
- Successful completion of a coordinated program or dietetic internship under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian.
- Strong verbal and written interpersonal communication skills with deep proficiency in electronic medical record charting.
Preferred:
- Prior experience compiling clinical statistics and providing reporting to healthcare leadership or Cancer Committees.
- Familiarity with local community outreach resources or specialized palliative nutrition planning.

Essential Functions:
- Evaluates, interprets, monitors, and documents the nutritional status and clinical needs of adult oncology patients using established standards of care and practice guidelines with regard to age and diagnosis.
- Assesses patient nutritional status and needs to formulate, implement, and adapt individualized patient nutritional care plans and medical nutrition therapy in direct alignment with physician prescriptions and patient medical goals.
- Educates, counsels, and guides patients and family members on the specific objectives of their nutritional care plans, and delivers targeted education regarding appropriate drug-and-nutrient interactions.
- Provides group and individual nutritional education workshops and actively writes orders for specialized diets and nutritional supplements as clinically necessary.
- Assists the Director in reviewing and updating department policies, compiles monthly statistics, and provides quarterly and year-end reports to the Cancer Committee and Breast Program Leadership.
- Researches, develops, reviews, updates, and implements age-specific educational literature and toolkits to meet the needs of oncology patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Maintains complete, clear, and legally compliant medical records to track the effective implementation of nutritional plans in strict accordance with hospital policy, state laws, and Joint Commission (JCAHO) requirements.
- Identifies and provides age-specific nutrition counseling to meet the cultural needs of the patients and their families while tracking nutrition issues across the entire cancer care continuum, including prevention and survivorship.
