Job Overview:
The Psychiatric Certified Screener provides care in the acute care setting within the scope of practice defined by the Screening Law and other regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
- MSW/MA degree in related field, or BA/BS plus three years of prior experience in a psychiatric setting, one of which is in crisis setting or enrolled in a Master’s program with two years of prior experience in a psychiatric setting, one of which is in a crisis setting
- Must have the ability to work in stressful situations
- Must possess a valid NJ driver's license in good standin
Scheduling Requirements
- Part Time 22.5 hours per week
- Night Shift 11p-7a three days per week
- Shift coverage required on weekends and two holidays per year
Essential Functions:
- Assures safety in practice by maintaining a realization of their own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge by communicating with and utilizing resource persons/programs available
- The Psychiatric Screener individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs
- Works in harmony with other staff members of interdisciplinary team
- Assists the Patient Care Manager and others as needed to achieve best service possible to patients
- Responsible for supervising and assisting in patient care issues as well as follow up on assigned tasks and for consistently setting and evaluating priorities
- Participates in psychiatric mobile outreach in the community with law enforcement
