Job Overview:
This is a Clerical Coordinator (Pharmacy Buyer) role based within the Pharmacy for Melchiorre Cancer Center. The Purchasing Coordinator procures supplies, materials and pharmaceuticals for the Pharmacy. Located in Livingston, NJ, come join one of the best hospitals in New Jersey!
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent,
Associates degree preferred,
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of Pharmacy experience preferred and PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) required within 6 months of hire,
Required:
Registration in New Jersey as a technician; current New Jersey licensure required
Certifications and Licenses Required:
Registered Technician with NJ board of Pharmacy
Essential Functions:
- Places orders and handles routine purchase orders; verifies order fulfillment and reviews invoices,
- Maintains procurement history and inventory records; prepares monthly and ad hoc analyses / reports for pharmacy management,
- Oversees recalls of defective pharmaceutical products throughout the Medical Center,
- Performs duties of Pharmacy Technician as required,
- Coordinates annual inventory; oversees Corporate-contracted vendors completing product counts,
- Acts as a resource to vendors; providing guidance and responding appropriately to questions, requests, etc,
- Maintains and demonstrates knowledge in the following areas of Pharmacy practice: Calculations, Generic-trade name relationships; Special properties of IV admixtures; Chemical formulas, abbreviations, common conversions and symbols,
- Maintains cleanliness of work area, replaces returns and disposes of non-reusable items properly,
- Maintains competence in current purchasing software to ensure timely, cost-effective purchase / return of products as well accurate data extraction for monthly and ad hoc reports,
- Obtains medications needed on an emergency basis utilizing all available resources; seeks guidance and approval as appropriate,
- Oversees product recalls; ensures compliance with removal, documentation and reporting of designated pharmaceuticals throughout the Medical Center including departments located at other facilities,
- Participates in regulatory surveys as required,
- Prepares monthly and ad hoc reports via Excel; addresses budget and stock variances as required,
- Verifies receipt of all orders; resolves discrepancies promptly.
