Job Overview:
RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Infection Preventionist for our Infection Control Department at the New Brunswick campus.
Special Pathogens Infection Preventionist
The Special Pathogens Infection Prevention position will operate in a dual capacity role. The Infection Preventionist (IP) will support the efficient function of the Infection Prevention and Control Program. Under the Infection Preventionist component, The IP will practice in accordance with the Department of Health regulations, Joint Commission, CDC NHSN and other regulatory agencies.
Required:
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in an acute care facility
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Microbiology OR other Health Science-Related Field
- Certification in Infection Prevention CIC required
- At least 2 years of Infection Prevention experience
- Must be knowledgeable of infection prevention and control principles, practices, and procedures as evidenced by certification.
Scheduling Requirements:
- Day Shift 40 Hours Per Week
- Full Time
Essential Functions:
- The individual in the position will dedicate 50 percent of their time to the Special Pathogens program and the remaining 50 percent to general Infection Prevention duties,
- Under the Special Pathogens component of this role, the individual will be responsible for supporting the efficient functioning of the Special Pathogens program, with a focus in emerging infectious diseases and associated training initiatives,
- This role requires communication and collaboration with both local and federal members of the The National Emerging Special Pathogens Training and Education Center NETEC,
- The IP will collect, analyze and present data relevant to infection control,
- The IP will provide staff education based upon identified needs and in accordance with approved infection prevention policies and procedures,
- The IP will develop policies and procedures regarding infection control,
- The IP will participate in the Infection Prevention and Control Committee and other committees as assigned,
- The IP will accept on call schedule as determined by the Director,
- The IP will investigate clusters, outbreaks and assist in complying with regulatory agencies,
- The IP will participate in performance improvement evaluation activities,
