The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Duties

Organizes and administers individualized age specific professional care to patients within Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine department,

Provides nursing care as directed by the medical staff and in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the department and the State Nurse Practice Act,

Performs thorough wound assessment and wound care for a variety of acute and chronic wounds in accordance with established protocols,

Assesses patients in context of wound management, including pain assessment, TCOM, Dopplers,Vascular assessment, Wound measurement and ABI characteristics,

Assess underlying etiologies and obtains health history related to wounds and performs care as directed by the physicians,

Applies appropriate modalities including nonselective debridement (Mist, and compression) Applies advanced wound care dressings modalities (unna boot, tropicals and other specialty dressings),

Provides patient education concerning wound care, offloading and nutrition,

Documents all patient encounters appropriately and in a timely manner,

Uses the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age specific needs and provides age specific treatment,

Participates in patient teaching and quality improvement activities,

Performs assessment and reassessment of patients according to applicable department standards,

Reviews result consults with physicians re: abnormal results and contacts patients regarding same,

Collects, labels, documents in computer and prepares specimen for pick up,

Follows up on lab reports and prints reports as required,

Appropriately charts each visit in the patients' medical record,

Inventories, orders, restocks supplies and equipment,

Ensures exam rooms are stocked appropriately and are clean and ready between patients,

Practices in accordance with universal precautions, infection control guidelines, medical waste separation and disposal of equipment policies,

Schedules patients procedures and surgeries with operating room and out patient departments as required ,

Administers medications and gives injections as appropriate,

Assists with pre-certification of procedures with insurance company as well as preparation of referrals as needed,

Directs and instructs activities of the medical assistants to insure smooth patient flow and accuracy of performance,

Performs other duties as deemed appropriate and necessary by departmental management and physicians,

Participates in ongoing education,

Qualifications

Graduate from an NLN accredited school of nursing,

Current New Jersey licensure as a Registered Nurse,

Certification in wound Care preferred,
