Job Overview:
The primary purpose of the Violence Intervention Specialist is to serve as an advocate and role model, providing case management with a trauma-informed approach to individuals who are enrolled in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-NB Violence Intervention Program, HVP.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Associate's degree required
• Experience in human services, public health or related field
• Three years of recent experience, such as any combination of student, volunteer, or work experience
Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree
• Knowledge of Middlesex County and relevant community resources
Scheduling Requirements:
• Day Shift — Typically an 8am start type (some flexibility available)
• Monday through Friday (Must be flexible to attend weekend events if necessary)
• Full-Time
Essential Functions:
• Violence Intervention Specialists are expected to develop a rapport with patients and families, provide accurate information, appropriate community resource referrals, assistance with systems navigation, and long-term emotional and social support to victims of violent crime who are admitted to the Trauma service
• The Violence Intervention Specialist s role is to work closely with the rest of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that all program participants are receiving the services best suited to meet their needs
• The Violence Intervention Specialist interfaces with the client, in the office and the community, on a regular basis to help him/her practice new skill sets while he/she pursues community referrals and personal goals
• This individual will function as a core member of the RWJUH HVIP team and trauma patient care team
